how to store a car

so sadly I have to keep my car off road for 6 months. back on road in February, Its in perfectly good condition, no water leaks etc , is it worth buying a car cover etc or just leave it and move it up and down the drive every so often. I want to look after it best I can whilst its off road, although maybe am over thinking it , its only 6 months I suppose.

The Halfords car covers are the best I've used for the money but don't protect the wheels much. You should still move the car every so often to get rid of brake rust and keep fluids moving. Also if your fuel tank is metal then try to keep it topped up.

Also pump your tyres up to avoid them flat spotting.

Is it being kept in a garage or on street?

it will be parked on drive right next to house wall

Get yourself a decent cover from somewhere like Coveryourcar.co.uk.

Over inflate the tyres and if possible keep it on a trickle charger so it fires up easily when it comes to finally using it.

Make sure the car is thoroughly cleaned and dry before fitting the cover. People give covers a bad wrap if secured properly and monitored they can be used successfully. That site I mentioned do overbody straps that can be used to prevent the cover from ballooning if it's windy. If it's over winter than their Monsoon cover is good, heavy and rubber so it's waterproof and will keep the car protected without moving.

You don't need a car cover if the car is water tight, especially for 6 months.

It's more important to keep the fluids moving around, keeping the brakes and handbrake free, and watching battery drain, if you can't trickle charge it, just disconnect it (as long as the means you can still access it).
