I have an old legit car, 13 years old, I bought from new, I reckon i'll get 3 to 4 years til something major goes on it. The new UK Gov' has rescinded the extension of the of the ban of new petrol cars to 2035, they will be banned from 2030. I live in a block of flats, I can't charge an EV at home & can't afford one anyway.
A few months ago I bought a very low mileage petrol car & SORN'D it. I store it in a public body (private land car park). I take the new car out once a week for a 7 minute drive. I will make it 'street legal' when my old banger expires. Recently, a new type of camera(s) has appeared close to where I live.
They are atop a 20ft pole, at the top are three lenses, a bit below are two other lenses; all coloured yellow. I'm 99% certain they are not common or garden speed cameras, they are ANPR cameras. I avoid them as a rabies patient avoids a bucket of water.
I'd be grateful if anyone, with more knowledge than me, can confirm my suspicions for me & anyone else. Big brother is watching us...let's watch them

So, what you're saying is that you want to and admit to driving an untaxed (and possibly un MOT'd) car on the public road and are annoyed at the possibility of getting caught for doing so?
Am I missing something? Surely, if you want to drive the car on the road (however briefly) get it taxed and MOT'd, then no problem.

Then you can decide, depending on what has gone wrong, whether to fix or replace.
Buying another car now and keeping it off the road for an unknown number of years is madness, you probably have more chance of issues with the low mileage car not being used than the older "legit" car?
Out of interest, what cars are they? As that can make a difference to the responses you get on here.
Not sure I quite understand why you would want to deliberately drive an untaxed and presumably also un-insured car once a week just to see what happens ?
It may be absolutely nothing happens in which case you have proved something but on the other hand you may well regret doing it should something happen on a regular 7 minute drive.

Just buy one of the millions of second hand ICE when the current one dies. It will be decades before your only choice is an EV of some sorts.
