Euro Garages Branded Fuel

Evening,

I stopped at my local fuel station this-afternoon, it has been a Euro Garage for a while, but the pumps were previously Shell.

It was only as I got to the pump that I realised it had changed from Shell to EG (Euro Garages) branded fuel.

This was enough to trigger my OCD (joke), as I typically only use Shell - but filled anyway.

So its been eating away at me ever since, after a quick google search I found a few articles regarding some kind of merger / purchase by Asda, so my thoughts are that it may be Asda fuel?
Their website shows an Esso forecourt and they mention "premium" fuel.

Anyone have any intel?

I know I'm being pedantic and one tank wont make a difference, but I'll sleep better at night if its a fuel makers fuel rather than supermarket (I joke of course).

Tesco Momentum is regarded as one of the best "premium" fuels. But (oh), that's a "supermarket fuel"...?

My local one of these still has shell branded fuel but not has Asda food brands instore. All allegedly funded by the west yorks poppie mafia.

Not sure Jesus (or other mythical characters) are a still a first world problem?

I do understand why you would want to know what fuel is going into the car. For instance, I wouldn't want to put BP fuel in a car accidentally.

Having said that, if the car is running fine, then don't worry about it.

Euro garages was started/is owned by the Issa brothers from Blackburn who are also part of the consortium that purchased Asda so probably both the same fuel but no idea who supplies them

It’s definitely supermarket fuel. We have all seen those Sainsbury/tesco/morrison oil rigs out in the North Sea.

I actually think where you are in Speke , they are trialling Gregg’s fuel which I believe to be even worse.

Considering you say it won’t make a difference, you do sound concerned frequently in your opening post. I would sleep with one eye open.

Didn't know that but it's what I use in our ICE car, mainly as it's the nearest filling station, car runs really well on it, don't pass a Shell station except once in a blue moon and I wouldn't touch BP with Ed Miliband's.

The diesel 4x4 finally gone to a new owner tonight, won't miss the stink of that starting up every morning.

This discussion has rumbled along on PH for years, without conclusion/ agreement amongst members. Apparently there are as few as about half a dozen refineries in the UK. What has emerged is that E5 is a better bet than E10 but not by much for newer cars and that premium diesel may have a superior cleansing effect, The brand seems to be down to individual preference but many drivers like to see a familiar logo on the pump.

I'm not sure why the OP is getting a hard time for wanting to know what sort of fuel he's using

The way I understand it is it might not have the additive package some other fuels have but you're not going to be using "low quality" petrol just because it's Euro Garages as the same tanker might stop at some other "branded" garage next and fill their tanks with the same base fuel.

I'd just run a tank or two of V-Power through it and forget about it.

A) who actually cares
B) his post is laced with "only joking, lol", "just kidding" etc, but he's clearly serious.

R8 V10 here, filled at Sainsbury's, Asda etc. all is still fine. I also run my enduro on E10 whereas lots of fellow riders seem to believe my bike will explode at any moment
