Registration Plate History Help

Hi all.

Between 1999-2001 I owned a lovely Citroen Saxo VTR (reg plate: R550 SAS). I sold the car to someone in Carlisle and I’ve always wondered what happened to the car.
I did a basic check a few years ago and the plate was shown to be on a Motorbike. Now it is shown as on a VW Transporter. The plate was never a private/cherished plate, so how come it ended up on others vehicles?

I’ve wondered if there was a way to find out what happened to my old Saxo and when the plate was put onto another vehicle. Is there a way to tell? Can anybody help?

That plate can be transferred like any other, and the only way you’ll find the Saxo plate is by an enquiry to the DVLA but they only give previous plates on a car you own and have the plate number now, so basically you’re stuck.

If you know the vin number the DVLA API will give a full plate history for that car - there are websites that allow you access to the API
