Of course in the olden days, when Pontius was still a pilot we used to display little round tax discs in the l/h corner of one's windscreen, As these changed colour each yesr it was very easy to spot a tax dodger, so the sly way that reminders being sent out seems to have stopped is just another stealth tax!

It's hardly a stealth tax you know you have to pay it,it's not difficult, they'll email you if you ask.993db said:

In my experience they still do. I normally receive it at the start of the month the tax is due to expire, although there was an issue in July 2023 when people, including me, didn't receive one.db

No need to spot tax dodgers by looking for bits of paper. 1000 's can be identified automatically without anyone needing to do anything.If you feel the bit of paper on your screen was a better remider, just print one out yourself and stick it in your window. Personally I have mine on DD and it just gets renewed automatically.

Agreed. It costs a couple of quid more but worth it for the fit and forget aspect. Very easy to tax and then SORN and vice versa

Or, maybe just set it up on a direct debit and it is taken without intervention until such time as you change the car ? Then you get a refund for unused months, the stealth tax there is the partial months they take, can be thirty days worth so in the higher bands that can be like £60. Could easily divide it by the days remaining, but why would they ?Who really wants to dick about with tax disks ?
ANPR will spot anyone dodging it.

Mine is due 1st Jan so saves needing to deal with it / potentially forgetting about it with the Christmas break by having it on DD.
