Registering car in the UK

I am in the process of registering a 997 in the UK, I have spoken to both the DVLA and GOVuk.
I have the NOVA number and have sent that off along with a V55/5 form and requested documents to the DVLA but unsure on what happens next and not getting any replies from the DVLA at the moment which is understandable but slow outside of the holidays anyway.
I was told the car needed an MOT inspection doing soon as possible, however my local MOT centre said they cant do it without a UK reg?
Has anyone on here done this and can let me know the next steps?

I believe the MOT certificate needs to be with the application. The MOT centre can do it on the chassis number as long as there is proof of the vehicles age (normally the previous countries registration document).

So my first application was rejected, one reason being the car needed an MOT as expected.

Box 12 states 'type' which can be found on the certificate of conformity, however I dont have one and need this info ASAP. Does anyone know what this is?
Another issue (I think) they have put is that the car does not meet certain emissions criteria it has to be registered as personal light goods. This is because the CoC was not supplied which shows the NEDC c02?
I could try and get a CoC but I think it can take a while, I did try and get one of Porsche a while back but they would only issue me a full technical sheet which doesn't show the above. I was also informed the car was on the lower tax band being registered pre 2006 but it seems like they are trying to get me to pay the higher amount.

Porsche will issue a COC free of charge. You need to call / email Porsche UK with the details of the car and they send it to you in about a week.
I did try to get one from Porsche, however my car is LHD and was originally built for the UAE market however it was never actually registered there.I did contact the UAE reps and they were unable to help so I then went direct to Porsche Germany and they would only issue me a technical sheet so I dont have the CoC info to hand.

I imported a motorbike from Italy and needed an MOT inspection to ensure it was road legal to UK requirements before I could be issued a V5.The garage MOT'd on the frame (chassis) no. and the bike still had the Italian plate, I also got insurance on the frame no. so was able to ride it to the MOT garage.
I had to send the MOT certificate to DVLA, along with V55, original Italian registration document, the road tax payment and registration fee (no VAT due to age) but once done, I received the V5 with age related plate and an updated MOT certificate in about a week.
I was actually impressed at how smoothly it all went however, this was pre-brexit, the bike came from another EU country and I had the original Italian documents which may have helped?
Yes MOT will show the chassis number, also you will need insurance on the chassis number to send to DVLA as this is also a requirement.
It may be worth speaking to an agent who does this all day long as they can either do it for you or advise exactly what you need, i know of a couple of people who had waiting 9 months to get vehicles (Cars and camper) UK registered as their application kept getting refused. Basiically not sending all the relevant docs

20 Years ago I built a Cobra kit car. Before it had the SVA test (now called IVA) I wanted it to have an MOT to check all was well. I insured it under the VIN number and had a piece of paper with the VIN number where the rear plate would go, as instructed by DVLA
It passed the MOT and the SVA and each identified it by the VIN number. With the SVA certificate I went to the DVLA local office (remember those?) who issued me a reg number and then I could get plates made up

You shouldn't need a CoC as its overs 10 years old. All of the questions on the CoC stuff is left blank. I think on question 72 i usually just write "Exempt, over 10 years"
Its exempt. You don't need any co2 data for the application.
Tax is based on engine size only. Over 1.5 or under. So you should be £345 plus the £55 fee, £400 cheque.
Also, you don't need insurance unless you are Northern Ireland based.
The mention of doing the MOT on the previous plates shouldn't apply either. It needs to be the Chassis number as this is the link that the MOT matches the export cert and chassis number noted on your application form.

Has that changed recently? DVLA were insistent that i send a COC for a 2005 Merc & 2003 BMW, that was early 2022.Its exempt. You don't need any co2 data for the application.

Ive not done imports from European countries, but from what I see, if its after 2001 and comes from Europe, it needs the CoC
Although this is a Porsche, it seems to be coming from UAE. Maybe thats why DVLA are asking for it. One of those grey areas. Euro car, but coming from outwith Europe.

I have had a chat with the DVLA who confirmed that due to it being over 10 years I can leave a lot of the V55 empty, including section 12 (vehicle type). They also sent me this link to check tax prices: https://carfueldata.vehicle-certification-agency.g...
Would it be classed as a used car (which is it) or a new unregistered car (which is sort of is), then I can work out exactly how much I need for the tax.
