Motability scheme cars

Hi all. I've just been awarded the higher level of mobility with adult disability. That means I now qualify for the motability scheme. What limitations do these cars come with, do you get a good selection of cars & suv's. What's people's experience with a motability car and the organisation?
All servicing(including consumable items like tyres and brakes , even wiper blades), insurance and roadside assistance is included.
You can get a decent enough brand new car from most manufacturers up to a certain spec/ price on the scheme.
You can also pay a bit more yourself if you want something a bit better like the next spec up etc.
Its definetly worth going to speak to a main dealer to see what you can get.

I have a car on Motability, it's a great scheme. I've been on it since April now, and it covers everything, car, insurance, tax, tyres and maintenance etc.
As my car is an EV I was also provided with a home charger fully installed.
The process is very simple from start to finish, and the range of cars is rather large! They vary in the up front cost from yourself depending on what to go for.

I can only comment from a long time ago as my dad had a motability car from 1989 until the early 00s.
It may have changed but the range/budget offered was fairly basic at the time but you could pay toward additional features or upgrades. My parents were never fussed so our cars were pretty basic. I do always recall the service being very good though, yearly servicing etc.
Last person I knew to have one was my old neighbour. Her last couple of cars were nicely spec'd VW Golfs. They used to collect the car for servicing for her and drop it home cleaned and serviced.

As above, very easy to get something nice. My daughter is on her second car now, and the bonus she got for handing it back in near showroom condition meant she could upgrade to the next class above what she was handing back for free. Also, aside from fuel, I think everything else is paid for.

The range is pretty big now, loads of different cars and specs. The more expensive the car the bigger the down payment. A car like a Dacia Spring requires no down payment and only £60 a week from your PIP. There’s a bonus for signing up for the scheme too.Some of the blowout EV deals on high list price / spec cars have gone now - some manufacturers were even offering cash incentives. I did see some Motability users complaining they were being “forced” into EVs.

That said, the last three cars they had were increasingly better specs by default. The J reg 1.3 Ford Escort which didn't even have a cassette player but by the time my mum had picked a 2001 Renault Clio it had a nippy 1.4 and for the first time..........air conditioning! haha

Stops today.Pick up my new & first Motability car on Monday, Ford Explorer, Select spec with Drivers assist, Full PIP and a contribution of something like £4.5k.

Stops today.The prices refresh quarterly, Jan, Apr, Jul and October, so the current ones are around for a while.
Manufacturers give offers every now and again. E.g. you could get a Enyaq with £500 down and your full allowance, with a charger installed to your house. This was 6 or so months ago, but I'm sure there are others.

What's the deal with say taking to euro disney. Can you drive in France or say Germany with a motobility car?As my car is an EV I was also provided with a home charger fully installed.

Roadside recovery is RAC iirc
