The OP may have a dash-cam? This would show the the griffing lorry had caused the damage.

And having done that, he'd have to prove that the driver was negligent. It's the gritters driver's job to spray the grit. I'll be interested to hear what the OP thinks he or she did wrong.

I think some more context is needed... are we talking about a pint head fixed mark that you think was the result of a gritter passing by on the opposite side of the M6 or did the gritter driver use the blade to remove all the paint / panels / wheels from the OS of the car whilst it was parked in a residential street?
