Just bought a 2018 Jag XF 3.0d S Sportbrake.

Car is lovely and was sold as a 2018 but has a 67 reg number plate.

V5 shows it manufactured Dec 2017 but not registered until 1st September 2018. To me it should be on a 68 registration?

Nor overly bothered as it will have a private plate going on but just a bit bemused. Did a car vertical and the car stacks up completely, decent service history etc.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Was it first registered in the Channel Islands, or Isle of Man perhaps? If it was registered elsewhere first, it would receive an age related plate.

Are you sure it's not an import.? Manufactured 2017 first uk registered 2018..

Does it have the original reg plate, maybe it's been changed by a previous owner?

The first 2 owners had a private registration on the car and in October it was given the current plate by DVLA. I think this is the first time the car hasn’t been on a private plate, well until it is soon

I've never noticed a "date of manufacture" on a V5 document, only the "date of 1st registration"

You’re right the date of manufacture isn’t on the V5. Think it’s on the car vertical. Can’t quite remember.

Really, there is no section on a V5C that shows date of manufacture, it is irrelevant to a Registration Document.

What you do have is B and B1, B is where the date of first registration goes, and B1 is where the date of first registration in the UK goes.

The OP needs to check whether these are the same.

Edited to add: B and B1 are immediately below the registration mark (A) top left of page 2.

The V5 shows that the car was first registered 1/9/18 and first registered in the UK 1/9/18. I can only think that DVLA have made a mistake when they issued the registration after the private plate was taken off

Is your probable answer. We had similar with an imported Camaro, registration plate year reference was incorrect by 6 months, too early.

67 plate ran august 17 to march 18 didn't it ?
If so I'm not sure I can see an issue here ?

As you state Page 1 only has that declaration if an import. All UK first registrations simply have the statement 'Declared new at first registration'. Therefore a normal UK V5C does not have the date of manufacture. In your case it is only showing the year, not the date.
