Stellantis 1.2 pure tech "hybrid", how hybrid are they?

Within the Stellantis group there is a huge number of Citroën, Peugeot, DS & Vauxhall cars that come as MHEV with the 1.2 turbo hybrid systems. My question is about the well documented WET Belt issues. It's the supposed hybrid drive train. I'm told the car has a pathetically small battery and ev motor, so much so it can't even propel itself on pure electric? If so what's the point? Surely the whole point of a hybrid is to offer some sort of electric only range, even if that was only say 5 miles or so. It's motor is only 22hp. Hardly seems like it would offer anything meaningful even in the way of extra assistance or fuel economy. This sounds like a poor marketing strategy for the people who don't look into things and trust the car companies.

The primary point of hybrid is to deploy and regenerate electrical power - 22hp is plenty for torque filling with a motor, and enough to cover most cruise speeds in a modern car.To answer the question:

In most cases, this isn’t able to move the car by itself; it just acts as an assistant to the engine. This does boost both power & economy, and frequently helps remove lag to some extent.
If you want a car that will have proper electric range, you need either a self-charging hybrid - usually only low speed & short range on battery, or a plug-in hybrid - longer range & normal speeds on battery.

You only need about 3KW / 4bhp to hold a steady 30mph so that electric motor is well sized for city driving. A 22bhp electric assist could potentially make a huge difference to emissions/consumption round town if the battery is a useful size.

The 1.2 Stellantis mild hybrid uses a timing chain not a wet belt.
