Settle an argument regards registration plates.
Discussion
As I understand it, a 2025 car that has been registered between January and the end of February must bear a 74 prefix registration. Any vehicle registered in March 2025 can bear a 25 prefix plate.
Someone has argued that a January/February 2025 registered car can bear a 25 prefix plate if you buy it from the DVLA as it’s technically a 2025 vehicle. I think they’re wrong.

I preferred it when it just changed on 1st August. Made the long boring journeys in the back of the car on holiday less boring. Dad dad there's another P reg. (The first P)
The bloke down our road had a new car every 1st August, but it was delivered a week before and sat on his drive proudly proclaiming that we were some sort of losers.
When I first started work 2 guys were promoted into management. One took delivery of his new car as soon as he could Early July as a G reg 205 1.9 gti .
The other colluded with the person responsible for company cars to get his delivered on the 31st to his house so on.the 1st he could drove to.work with a H reg (rover 414 Sli I think)
Unfortunately someone drove straight into the back of him and he was in a hire car for 3 weeks. Nobody laughed. Not with him in the room at least.

My Fathers accountant used to have a new car delivered to his house ready to drive off on August 1st. Tbf, he made sense of my Fathers carrier bags of receipts every year (including the ones he had my sister and I write), so he probably deserved it The bloke down our road had a new car every 1st August, but it was delivered a week before and sat on his drive proudly proclaiming that we were some sort of losers.
