Why is this assumed to be the worst-case scenario for losing control of your car?

Is there a particularly infamous incident that got a lot of media attention? Does the Allegro brake failure from "The Quality Connection" stick in people's minds?

Allegros we're quite good cars. I did manage a brake failure but it was old and rusty, I didn't crash it though.

Because you've ploughed into innocent bystanders who have nothing to do with your loss of control/accident other than being a victim of your poor driving/negligence/accident/murderous intent.

As a car driver you are an evil, polluting, capitalist, bourgeois, decadent, child and cyclist killing scum with a number plate and driving licence that they can trace and prosecute you.

What an odd basis for a thread. A bus queue is simply the most likely place to find a group of people near the roadside.

There was one in Brighton a couple of years ago.

P****d up woman in a Jag, thankfully late at night, lost control and destroyed the shelter. One guy suffered serious injuries.

She was jailed.

Also one in Hastings (or St Leonards) where another drink driver, in a shed of a BMW killed a guy when he lost control and did the same.

Derailing a train. Selby killed 10 people and seriously injured 82 when a Land Rover found its way onto the track.

Wasn't there a case some years ago, where a bus driver hit the wrong pedal and drove into the queue? If I remember rightly he was jailed fo it.

Insurers do not like injuries as this can cost them 10 of millions where as a death is pretty cheap, i suppose the bus queue is one of the main areas where there are a group of people standing near the road side hence it is used.

more recently the number of claims where individuals lose talent leaving car meets/shows and end up going into the crowd of bystanders plenty on social media

I mostly see it used where people complain it costs £3000 to insure a £500 car ... it's just a simple scenario to outline why the insurance is more for the people you hit than yourself in an accident.

IIRC Someone created a bigger claim when they blocked a canal in France.

So now Third Party cover is no longer unlimited.

Sadly wiping out a bus queue would probably be much cheaper than crippling 1 Premier League footballer, which is why insurance for those that move in the same circles as sportsmen and celebs is expensive as they may have them as passengers.

Back in 1984 I worked in the Claims Department for the insurer of the coach that Bucks Fizz were travelling in when it crashed. It was their most expensive claim ever!

When people mention hitting a bus queue, isn’t it normally just giving an example of a scenario where you could injure multiple people in one go?

It doesn’t really matter if it’s a bus queue or sports team out for a walk together. It’s just to illustrate a point.
