Controversial opinion: Mondeo rides better than a Tesla

So, been in Spain for a few days using Bolt to get around (great service btw) we got lucky with the cars a Merc v class, a Tesla model Y (think it's a Y, the bigger one but no the gullwing door one) a model 3 and a Mondeo hybrid
The roads weren't the best and all the cars had done a few miles, as we drove back to our hotel in the Mondeo 3 of the 4 fell asleep, it was then that I realised how comfortable it was and how crashy the ride on the Tesla's was, I'm guessing the weight is the main issue but in my head the Tesla was more comparable to a BMW than a Mondeo but the Mondeo was so much better.
Are Tesla suspensions a bit harsh or was I unlucky here ?

Work means I end up in a fair amount of taxis. Bottom of the "Ride quality" pile by some distance is any Tesla. Very little pliancy - concrete motorway ridges or expansion joints are horrible!
The couple of Mondeo hybrids I've been in are noticeably better, so not a controversial opinion at all.

I don’t think it’s controversial
The mondeo I had was on 16 inch wheels and massive tyres and the seats where like sofas, my model 3 is on 18s and the ride is harder, I assume it’s because of the weight of electric cars otherwise they would bounce all over the place
The Audi a4 I had before in “sport” trim was sublime on massive tyres and 17 inch wheels, very well damped and probably the best comfy car I’ve ever had
The highland 3 is better than the original too

Ah, seems I was more right that I thought, I was half expecting the die hard Tesla fans to jump on me for questioning the ride quality of their fine automobiles
In my head the Tesla was a premium vehicle akin to BMW, Audi etc so when the Tesla came up as the car which was en route we thought we were in for a treat but it came up short

The Mondeo always punched well above its weight in that regard. Next time I'll be crossing my fingers for a Mondeo
The OP is hardly comparing like with like. The Mondeo was in production until fairly recently, whereas the last Model Y rolled off the production line approximately ninety years ago. Technology has moved on significantly in that time.
Note, too, that the Mondeo has more of everything. Recent ones have twice as many forward gears as the Model Y - six as opposed to three - and twice the electricity - twelve volts against six. That means the Mondeo is double the car in both gears and electrical output.
One might make a claim for the Model Y being more practical, given that it could be has a Tudor, Fordor, van and pickup truck, as well as pointing out that the Model Y is easy to maintain at home with basic tools. The Mondeo, in Fivedor form, is neither practical nor impractical and cannot be looked after by the average home mechanic because of its many computerized systems.
In sum: the Model Y is an ideal car for the modern city because it is small enough to fit into almost any parking space and offers excellent all-round visibility, whereas the Ford Mondeo is better suited to music lovers as it is equipped with a CD player. Residents of Manchester and The Wirral are advised to choose the Ford Mondeo as most models have three windscreen wipers (two at the front and one at the back), whereas the Model Y generally only comes with one.

I do always think about what Tesla 3 & Y market rivals are, I have a 3, and it’s about the same size as a 3 series, but list price is 39k, so much less than a 3 series, but it’s also i4 size but 10k less, with more tech as standard, but build quality no where near as goodNext time I'll be crossing my fingers for a Mondeo
But then it’s higher quality than a Kia for example, so they almost have a neiche in the market, it’s certainly the best electric car you can get all round because of the supercharger network and how efficient they are and yet not the best car you can buy
It’s a bit like a Morden day mondeo, a fleet favourite,nothing really wrong with it but not something I would buy with my own money
