PCN scam text messages
Discussion
Switched the phone on this morning and had 14 text messages all identically worded from 6 different numbers. Tried calling them (number withheld obvs) a few just cut off immediately, one mailbox was full and 2 I left childish abusive messages (well why wouldn't you
)
The numbers were
07533 330208
07883 914891
07947 033571
07346 898422
07861 069650
07909 252501

All have been forwarded to 7726
Anyone else had this?

I had 2 back in November, and one mid December.
Same wording with a link at the end.
My phone basically put them into category of Spam or Junk so I deleted them.
Easy to see how someone would fall for it, like many scams, well written and threats of worse to come if you don't comply.
Scumbags.

They would be spoofed numbers so you could well be leaving childish abusive messages on a very confused little old lady's voicemail!

Seen a few, the first thing that springs to mind re their authenticity is how would the parking enforcement company know the phone number of the keeper/owner/driver?
That alone should be enough that no-one falls for it.
That, plus, this is the UK, nobody will get their driving licence revoked for non-payment of parking fines, that is a thing in the USA.That alone should be enough that no-one falls for it.
Also, incorrect spelling of licence.

Yes that did cross my mind but just in case and all that
Neither of the 2 lines that went to VM rang out just straight to VM, if I had got through to someone I could have assessed whether they were spoofing or not and had some fun if not stringing them along for a while before giving them both barrels of fuchs

And the terminally paranoid such as I would worry about AI voice cloning for use in some other fraud.
Best to ignore and not engage.

Also you are showing the sender yours is a live phone number, and potentially making you vulnerable to SIM fraud.

I withheld my number so they don't know who responded and I wold assume they sent these out by the thousands. And the terminally paranoid such as I would worry about AI voice cloning for use in some other fraud.
