I recently had my front control arms replaced at my usual indie specialist and they said the front roll bar links will need doing (they are knocking).

I ordered some OEM replacements online and while I booked in the wheel alignment at another place, I asked them to fit them at the same time.

When it was ready, they said it took much longer than the 1 hour quoted as they had to remove the arms to get to them. Weird I thought, but whatever.

Anyway, they’ve replaced the rears instead (they are interchangeable), as they were original and the fronts were 2-3 years old confused

The written request, subsequent phone call and even invoice says front.

The rear does feel better now, so maybe they saved me a future job and I got cheaper labour, apparently. Although I’ll have to order some more, pay a fair chunk for international delivery and spend a fair bit of time and faff getting to my indie to replace the fronts and fix the clunk.

Not sure if I should be pissed off about it or just suck it up? I like initiative, but it just seems so random they didn’t just quickly call to confirm confused

Assuming this is some sort of 9x6 or 9x7 Porsche, I'd be a bit annoyed but suspect you've ended up with a decent driving car for a reasonable amount of money...

I'd call the garage and tell them what happened, i.e. "you mistakenly replaced the rears instead of the fronts" and if they're a reasonable place just get them to do the fronts, but maybe ask for a bit of discount on the labour.

You'll then have a fully refreshed car and can move on to enjoying it.
