I'm confused. Since I was 17, all I've wanted to do was get a bigger engine, a bigger car, RWD, leather seats and you know the rest smile

I've managed to obtain one of these

(318is for those who can't see it)

Now am I mad in considering to replace it with this?? hehe

My first 2 cars were K10's! They were simple eficient transport. I learnt basic mechanics them, rebuilt the engine on one, they didnt get me ANY girls though. I'd rather have the bimmer.

eta That one is a later model, the last before K11's came out and has electronic ignition and an electronically controlled carburettor. Should be a sweet runner.

PH - Support Matters wink

Can you not see the pros of this endevor? My commute is all B roads. It will be more economical, and possibly more fun. driving

more economical yes, more fun? I doubt it. I have one and commute 240 miles a week in it. It averages 35 ish and i keep thinking about chaning it for a sensible diesel or small petrol, it would save me 20% on my fuel bill. Still got it though.

Doubt it'll actually be that much more economical than the 318i to be fair, you'll certainly get tired of the Micra and yearn for the BMW again pretty quickly I reckon.

fk me the Beemer is the better car in every way. It's not as if you can argue that you will stay legal in the Micra because it's only a 318 anyway! Decent RWD coupe over stty old gutless FWD with not decent handling - I know what I'd have!

Fair enough if you want to downsize, but there's got to be plenty of better small cars than the micra!

I don't know whats worse, downsizing to a rusty old Micra or knowing what a "k10" was without opening the thread.

God, I feel old - had one of those for my first car, bloody loved it. Cost me nowt except a weekend putting the good engine from one into the good body of another. Then sold it for £130. Result.

You'll thrash it to within an inch of its life all the time (it's the only way to drive them as they need revs to make progress) so I doubt the fuel consumption will be much better.

Is the IOW really the best place to own an old micra? biggrin

Don't forget to put your neatly folded check blanket and tissue holder on the rear shelf.

Think I'd stick with the old Bimmer.

I must admit, I'm beginning to reconsider scratchchin

Would a k11 make more sense? 16v EFI, bound to be better to live with and more economical!

Even though the fact that the k10 is under 700kgs really does appeal smile

I've driven a few E36s, and for driving fun quite honestly I'll reserve judgement until I've driven a K10. An E36 would never be my first choice in its price range for some back road fun, so the K10's in with a chance.

Bloody ugly little thing though.
