Thought these Youtube links would be of interest to various members of Pistonheads.

They're each an hour long, and are of an old program called Equinox. These particular episodes are of the 1980s Beatrice Hass Lola F1 team, and show Cosworth designing, testing and building their own v6 turbo lump.

Check out a young Ross Brawn in the second episode!

Enjoy!!

I didn't realise you were joking at first. I thought, all these years lurking on Pistonheads, I finally join up and get banned - beautiful! Enjoy the vids!!

I remember these programmes vividly, it made me want to be an F1 electronics development engineer (made it except for the F1 bit). Ironically, I'd be quite happy with very little in the way of electronics in the cars now, let the drivers do the work.

P.S If you are looking for an F1 elec dev eng, ignore the above wink

Awesome documentary. Watched Part 1 last night.

Amazing to see how things have changed WRT to the dumbing down of documentaries. frown

Great post, thanks. Just watched both episodes, a very interesting insight, would love to see the same sort of program from other eras including modern day stuff.

There is a third episode in the Equinox series called: Turbo - Made to Measure (1987), but it's the devil's own job trying to find it on the net.

yes

He looks like the fat spotty kid from the local school that they got in to use the BBC Micro that nobody understands, only to find they have one of the worlds best chassis designers and aerodynamicists.

Best thing I've watched for ages, thankyousmile
I liked the old boys making the forms for the engine casting. I would imagine that is a lost art these days as with a fair few other skills in the program.
