Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Bi-Fuel

Thinking of one as a daily hack as a possible replacement for the 306.

Probably the most boring car in the world but LPG so 75p/litre at an average of mid-30s mpg, AC and a few other toys, £1.5-2k for a goodun' with circa 100k.

Any issues with the 1.6 Ecotec or with the LPG system in particular?

We have the non LPG car as a pool car at work and I've driven it a few times, seems quite detached and floaty but otherwise does what it says on the tin.

Just get the usual cam belt/water pump/tensioner kit done.

My dad has a 1.6 ecotec astra automatic, it's ideal for him all we do is an annual oil change a filter service.

Hmm yeah, with my other car being an MX5 I'd need to buy a TVR too to maintain the hetero status quo

We've had lots of LPG cars and the Astra 1.6 factory fit bi-fuel was the worst of them all

Very slow on gas compared with petrol
Mis-fires were hard to fix even with the right plugs
The engine light kept coming on
No one was able to fix it - vauxhall dealers kn ow nothing about their bifuel cars and LPG specialists don't like touching the nasty vauxhall system.
If you want LPG don't buy a vauxhall factory fit system find an after market current system like prinz tarterini or brc
