Alternative Breakdown Cover

My renewal is in from the AA and is best part of 90 quid for two named people. Nothing fancy just the basic cover.

Anyone got any recommendations (not so much price but experiences) before I phone to cancel ( or barter them down to the 52 quid I can get from RAC(&Tesco) Asda etc....).

Interesting that they do not actually state on their paperwork how to cancel, thought this would be against distance selling regs.

I've just cancelled mine, you phone the 0800 number and press option 3 then 5 I think but don't bother doing it in the mornings as they cut you off due to being too busy unless you press the option to join and then cancel via them.

AA road, relay and at home for 2 people £129 - £60 cashback, thus nett cost £69 (cf with their renewal letter £201.65).

Unlike last year, they refused to price match my best competitor online quote. I swapped cover.

RAC were doing family cover for 3 people with recovery, home start thrown in free for £164, my AA renewal was £200 and it doesn't have home start.

Depending what bank account you have you get breakdown cover with some of them, I get home start and relay plus with mine so no need for seperate cover.

You just need your debit card with you to prove your a member and the AA come sort it out same as if you were a direct member

£47 for pan-european cover, driver and spouse for any car. More or less unbeatable, one of the best little 'secrets' in motoring.

Britannia Rescue get my vote. Even cheaper if you, or a relative have ever worked in the Civil Service.

Can't remember if mine was pan-European but it was definitely less than that for joint any car UK.

Now have cover included with bank account.

What we can conclude is that anyone paying full price for AA/RAC with Euro over is getting royaly shafted
