So, Nottingham University is bringing in these charges due to Nottm City Councils Workplace Parking Levy.
How long before paying to park in every city is based on the CO2 of your car?
Obviously, public car parks can't charge you on your salary like the Uni are doing, but still...

Norwich city council were going to charge residents a permit parking fee based on the length of their vehicle. You could argue fair enough on congested streets where parking is at a premium,but no they said it was to encourage green car ownership as shorter cars were more green......god help us. Don't think it ever went ahead.
Parking at Milton Keynes main train station is the same, you can apply for a green permit and get free parking. A director at work is chopping in a jazz for a bluemotion polo, he's saving an absolute fortune.
Disclaimer: I understand there are additional costs involved and that he will lose money on the value of a new car compared to the car he has already had the depreciation hit on. I'm merely referring to parking charges.

You know technically if I showed up in say a Hummer H2 and someone else showed up in a Prius. I should pay less. The prius is more polluting during its construction than the Hummer is through it's entire life span. Maybe someone should raise that point
