Anyone had race tuition?

My 40th (eek) is coming up, and my girlfriend has said she'd get me what I want (say a max 500 budget).
One thing that occurs to me is to get some race tuition - I've raced for 12 years, with reasonable success, and until 5 years ago was an ARDS grade C instructor, but I know I still have a hell of a lot to learn.
Has anyone paid for full instruction, who with, and did they measurably benefit from it? I notice you can get a day's instruction from Mike Wilds for £450 (excluding track fees [I'd pay them], provide your own car [got a couple, but both full race historics, and not sure they'd take a full days pounding]).
ETA: When I was an instructor, all I did was experience days, so no experience of format etc of actual tuition)

I've had tuition from a few people but I'm a beginner compared to you.... I've learnt a lot from Jamie Stanley and from Steve Lewis.
One other thought - if you don't already have a custom painted lid (you probably do), that makes a brilliant gift; I got married last year and the club got together and got my lid painted. A fantastic gift which lasts - even when the lid is retired I can still look at it and remember the day, the event, and the people..

Yeah definetley you willl learn loads and it'll be the best money racing you spend. Most racers would spend 500 quid on making their engine more powerful in a heart beat but think twice about tuition.
I used Callum Lockie and found him very very good and learnt loads in the day I spent with him. Having said this there are quite a few around who can help, but get some personal reccomendations before spending the cash.

Not race tuition as such however i had some pretty hairy laps in the passenger seat of a Seat Leon a couple of years ago courtesy of a certain Mr Plato...
Scared the living crap out of me although in a wide smile & i need new underpants sort of way. Did things with the Leon that i didnt think were possible such as sideways with one hand on the steering wheel whilst looking out of the drivers window to see where his braking point was.
He missed it by quite a long way!!!!

My experiences of race tuition....
First ever race with no experience - qualify something like 19th
Get around 90mins tuition through going on a couple of those racing scholarships
Then do second ever race in same series against same drivers - stick it pole
Obviously going to make the biggest noticable difference the less experienced you are but clearly valuable!
