a message to the biker who despite me being in a discovery (wine red) and signalling left, decided he could not wait for me to move over this morning on the a130 so he undertook me.
i knew he was behind me as i over took an artic, but he didn't wait to see what i would do he dived down the inside of me and i didn't see where he went for a couple of seconds.
every now and again you get a biker who seems to say 'yes we are all nutters', and do something mad, when most of my mates ride bikes so i know they aren't.
mind i should have realised what he was like when i saw he was wearing grey, black and white cammo outfit
still bloke was a complete t
t!!! even my son was shaken up and he is mr laid back.

at the risk of sounding like a dick, what has being in a red disco got to do with it? Are you hoping he will come forward on this forum and apologise? It's not nice when other motorists shake you by being complete f

we're in lane 3 making progress.
biker appears in the rear view making much more progress, i move to lane 2 and passes, i move back to lane 3.
biker is now stuck behind another car in lane 3 who is also making progress.
he's behind for about 5 seconds before he starts to move around a bit to attract attention of driver but they're not moving over as passing a small line of traffic in lane 2. The car is also weaving a little bit in the lane, not crossing the white lines or hitting the rumble strip but certainly utilising all of the lane available
but the biker obviously can't wait so "overtakes" the car by using the small strip of tarmac between the car's offside and the rumble strip/crash barrier. he squeezes through obviously shocking the car driver who has a major wobble / brakefest. Fortunately i'd dropped back as soon as i realised what the biker was doing in case he came off - didn't want to damage my car by collecting him or his bike on the front end

As car drivers are the majority on the road the amount of fktardery is higher and I'm betting the percentage of accidents per capita is much higher than for bikers/truckers and any other vehicle who have to put up with car drivers stupidity.
Not saying the op was at fault obviously but just wanted to say this before this turns into a biker bashing/truckers bashing thread.

This. But the fact that bikers are not in protective metal boxes means they tend to come off worst in a coming-together. Which, I guess, weeds out the nuttier ones fairly quickly (and focuses the minds away from nuttness as well.) Oli.
I have had a biker do pretty much the same to me. It was a long time ago and I was travelling on a dual carriage way. I executed a perfect overtake of an articulated lorry and was just about to move back into lane 1, when this biker undertakes me on the left. No need to tom as he could have just passed me on the right. Thankfully, I saw him and held my course, but could so easily have knocked him over at 70 mph.
Its just like in every walk of life - we encounter the not so bright people who take unnecessary risks. Most bikers seem to be pretty clued up, but there we go.

yes some bikers ride like dicks. For every bikers I see riding dangerously I see 20 cars drivers being dicks. 5 cars racing on a busy m62 last week the other side of manchester they got caught up so decided to go on the hard shoulder. we were being undertaken on the hard shoulder and overtaken at the same time

i agree that car etc drivers display f#cktard behaviour too and i wasn't aiming my comments at all bikers, merely the rider i saw as an example of very bad driving technique.
As another poster alluded too - in a car i'm sat in a metal box which offers a degree of protection and i will take a level of risk accordingly. as a biker, there is little protection = greater risk (and greater reward i suppose).
The biker i saw overtake a car in the same lane might have been Rossi or Stoner on a weekend blast and therefore a god on two wheels but he was still putting himself in a situation of risk because he had no idea what the driver of the car was going to do. The car driver might have seen him and let him pass (i saw no evidence of that) but he also might have thought "bit close to the traffic in lane 2, i'll shufty over in my lane a bit" and bang! one dead biker, a multi-car pile up and a st load of grief for a lot of people
You can be a driving god however you share the road with people who are not, and display that quite often, so you should act accordingly. A good driver should drive defensively and be able anticipate other people's errors and i would imagine that bikers are very acutely aware of those. However the biker i saw didn't display that technique, he displayed impatience and stupidity, but he survived. this time.

I used to be a biker (had to sell the bike to buy a family car for the littl'un as the gf can't drive).
I'll admit that i see more bad driving from car drivers than i do from bikers!

being a land rover 'fan' this is my argument completely, these muppets would drive badly whatever they drove / ride.i think the thing that prompted me to post (yes i see loads and get it wrong myself) was that my stepson commented, he is so laid back that nothing seems to phase him, he just takes stuff in his stride. he is very much a 'life's too short' kid like his mum. however even he got shaken by the guy, i suspect as he just appeared beside him and i was moving towards him as i had lost him in the blind spot.
plus writing about it gives me a release and its now over, even if no-one had read it, its now done, otherwise; as is in my nature; i would have brooded on it, and probably got hot under the collar again.
I always find it odd in these type of threads that it quickly becomes a division between 'bikers' and 'car drivers'. Most of the worst bikers I see are on sunny Sundays in good weather only, usually half a dozen of them together blasting along A roads, overtaking on solid white lines/over the brow of hills/on bends and easily doubling the NSL. However these middle aged blokes are car drivers the rest of the week, so it's likely they're just as guilty of crap car driving in the week at being frustrated at not being able to hurtle past everyone in their pretty leather costumes.

Plenty of crap drivers in all kids of vehicles, I wouldn't say it is limited only to bikers by any means. The only thing I'd say is that with bikers being much more vulnerable than most other road users, you'd expect them to ride much more defensively, but some do seem to view other road users merely as obstacles to their progress. I've seen bikers weaving through traffic on busy motorways where the slightest touch from a car could result in death....mental.
