Not sure why Emirates were so anal about the luggage being under 32kg when someone was shipping their entire car!



Didn't know that people shipped their cars on passenger planes, I always assumed they'd be on freight planes.

I dont think its uncommon for cars to go on passenger planes, I've seen a few pics of Ferrari's and the like be transported that way.

They like them to be on vapours fuel wise.

We've air-freighted cars in the past when a customer wants them in a hurry, otherwise they go by sea in a container. I had 3 leave for HK last week.

I'm sure the danger of a random electrical fire in a car is no worse than the chance of a random electrical fire in the aircraft, after all its wiring systems make a car's look like childs play.

It's not actually that big a deal putting them on passenger planes. I've done two for clients and whilst the paperwork is a touch more laborious the process is pretty simple. Getting the car on the plane isn't a big deal but it does depend where it's going - some places (oz etc) require the car to be immaculate upon arrival, underneath, inside, outside, the lot. That's fun when someone decides to export a Defender.

Yep, steam cleaning the car to within an inch of its life is the norm.
