Alfa 156 JTD - How much for a good one?

The above seems like a good shout for something comfortable, reasonably economical while still being interesting.

I would be looking at either the 1.9 or the 2.4 diesel engines, preferably being a later model 1.9 JTDm or the 2.4 10v (150bhp) as I hear the 20v is a bit iffy after a remap.

What kind of mileage should I be looking at? Should I be wary of anything over 120k or is it all down to service history?

What should I be looking to pay for a decent example as many seem overpriced?

I would prefer a SW but would settle with a saloon.

And finally, why do I want a diesel? So I can waft arround effortlesly. I find myself unable to drive my current car to the full these days due to the 40mph everywhere club so I've decided that it's time to mosey around on a wave of economical torque.

Well i have a black 156sw 2.4jtd. It currently has 88k on the clock and i have owned for almost two years. Not sure what it is worth, but not much. Haven't had any major issues with it, just have an airbag light on at the moment.... Should be an easy fix once i get round to it.

Would thoroughly recommend owning one. Its great looking and a great cruiser. Must admit it is probably not suited to the small rural potholed roads around my way. Suspension is a little crashy over thes surfaces.

Friends have a 1.9 JTD SW and love it. No problems to write home about except it's a bit low at the front so watch that over traffic calming, potholes, etc. And yes, it's silver. Isn't the 2.4 unit a GM engine? We were looking at them a couple of years ago and weren't impressed by the fuel economy. Certainly seemed to be more 2.4s on the market than the smaller engine.
