RE: Video: Walter Rohrl And Porsche 904 GTS

We won't bore you by rewriting a potted history of the 1964 Porsche Carrera GTS (or 904 as many prefer to call it), or indeed Mr Walter Rohrl. Look them both up on Wikipedia if you don't know why we we've got a pristine example of the former safely stored in the PH fantasy garage, while the latter has been awarded eternal membership of the PH Hall of 'Legendary Driving God And Thoroughly Nice Bloke With It' Fame.

But watch this first. Courtesy of the Porsche official YouTube channel, it's a 904/GTS from the Porsche Museum getting a workout a la Walter.

The car is stunning. Ahead of its time in terms of engineering. Basic principles made that car great.
Mr Rohrl is a legend in his own right and can seriously drive. He is a nice guy with it too and is happy to talk Porsche and old cars with fans all day long.
That clip made me feel happy.

oh why did you have to post that link! I'd forgotten all about those things, considering what you can get an SC engine & box for these days I reckon that's a bargain of a car. I wish I had the money! If you could ever get fia papers for one as a continuation then I reckon it'd be even better building one as a proper 4cyl.
Porsche never bettered the 904 I reckon, if they'd have carried on with that car as a production model things might have turned out very differently.
