do they still issue tax discs when you transfer a new plate to a car, so you can stick the plate straight on? (i know they used to)

or do they just send it off the dvla? meaning youi have to wait for a couple of weeks.

think specifically of preston, if that makes any difference.

If it is a retention going on they'll do it over the counter, if it is a transfer they won't, it can take up to a couple of weeks.

Yep, new tax disc and replacement MOT (if needed) printed out straight away so you can happily put the plate on. Did mine on Friday, surprisingly a very hassle free process.
