I'm looking for a project car to work on and get running for the summer. Searching around I have found this 1978 E12 528i:

To me it looks ok, the price is a bit to good to be true at the moment IMO, but I'm no expert and I'm looking for advice on whether it would just be a money pit and I should steer well clear.

Honest to god, i know he has changed the ad but the amount of people that think that tax exemption is a rolling year by year thing is ridiculous.

If your car was manufactured (not registered) before 1973 then it is tax exempt, it really is that simple.

nothing really to lose for a few hundred quid - sure it will need plenty spending on it, but think you should get any money you spend back if you can pinch it cheap.

Looks about right for a 105,000 mile car IMO. They built cars out of good steel back then.

Stirling is only about 20-25 miles for me so not to bad, if it wasn't an auction ending tomorrow I would go take a look

Good luck. Got to be worth a punt assuming there isnt a mad bidding war.

Never quite understood why people don't spend at least a few minutes wiping it down and pushing it out into the daylight at least for the pictures!
