What Shed?

I'm looking for a shed to run for 5-6 months or until I move house (which may be some time).

My criteria is as follows:

Diesel or LPG.
Cheap to insure.
Ideally AWD but would consider FWD in case I need to run it through winter.
Would prefer an Auto but not essential.
Can be sold for a similar price to what I pay for it in 6 months time.
Costs less than £1000.

TD Pajero or Shogun. Bloody thirsty buggers though for a diesel.

LPG Cherokee but you may wander into unreliability LPG issues.

Something like a 106 would be cheap to run, are surprisingly good in the snow for a 2WD car if that's something you're worried about, are pretty reliable, don't rust much, and cost buttons to maintain.

I had considered a small engined petrol. I fancied a Fiat Panda 100hp but they are too expensive. 106 GTI could be fun!

I looked, it's hard to find a diesel under £1500. Like the idea though.

Warming to the idea of an old Merc to run on veg oil, very tempted regardless of it being rear wheel drive.

Also like the suggestion of a big Jeep so will keep an eye out.

They are an excellent shed, and not much to go wrong on them. Just make sure the diffs and the boxes are OK - the engines are pretty much un-burstable and depending on year come with about 190bhp, so no slouch

XJ Cherokees like the one pictured are selectable 2wd/4wd, so can be surprisingly economical on a run.

They want over a grand for insurance. That's £400 more than I pay on the Beemer.

Dont get a quote from a mainstream insurer, they will bottom rape you on these cars. Im with sureterm direct and pay just over 350quid PA on my 4.0 GC. A regular Cherokee will be similar/less.
