Not relating to CO2 of LPG, but it is expected that LPG will increase in price by quite a bit due to Japan requiring massive amounts of it for rebuilding after the earthquake. And once prices go up for a particular reason, they rarely come back down when that reason is no longer valid.

Why Japan? Is that the only fuel they use over there?? From what I can tell people have been doom saying about LPG for over 12 years now.....Just a thought.

Well the situation is having world-wide repercussions. A Financial Analyst advised me this week to move my pension fund to a less risky scheme as interest rates were being hit - and as far as I am aware, none of my fund is invested in Japan.

We're getting slightly O/T here, but...
Haiti did use lots of LPG, but not anywhere near as much as it is expected Japan will use. Japan have the finances to buy it in the first place, where Haiti didn't. They were relying on aid form other sources, which mostly went on food and health. Haiti was a third world country before it's 'quake and is still almost entirely in ruins, with little attempt to rebuild anything.
New Zealand wasn't even 5% of what's happened in Japan. they have been able to continue most of their daily routine without too much disruption.
And where Japan differs most is that they are expected to start the clear up and rebuilding of it's towns and cities that were affected almost immediately. LPG can be used in many ways during this... it is easily transportable, cheap(ish) for now and can be used for power/electricity, heating, transport fuel, etc.

Yeah but petrol wasn't £1.36/litre back then either.Whats your point?
I've just paid 70p a litre for LPG where as petrol is 129.9p round here. I got my car converted last june and I was paying 60p for LPG then, I can't remember how much petrol was then, around 115-120?
I still have to buy petrol though as the car doesn't run on LPG all the time but I get about 2000 miles between fill ups.

My parents house cost about £20k 25 years ago, and is now worth 20 times that.My point being, things change, so simply stating a price from 25 years ago is pretty pointless

I used to run an LPG car. When I first started LPG was a third of the price of petrol, now it is about half the price.
I used to be able to get 500 miles out of a 90 litre tank of LPG (which would now cost £70), now I get 500 miles out of £65 of diesel.
If you want the response and reviness of a petrol engine (which many do on this web site) then the LPG makes sense. If you don't, and mainly want economy then the ease of availabilty of diesel makes it the better choice IMHO.
I'm driving about 170 miles a day to work (and back) at the moment so economy is rather key.
