Never seen one/heard of one before, but don't see the point in somebody doing it afterwards when there are so many better alternatives?

That's cool but I think it's been modified unless Ford make them for another market and it's an import.
The Transit Connect fills this segment surely.

They've been around for donkeys just not as popular as vans. The side windows are either full plastic replacements for the originals or just covers. Floor is usually ply lined with some having carpet glued on. Used to be mainly small stuff like fiestas and peugeot 206s. Not sure about tax breaks though. Manufacturers aren't going to re-tool their industry for such a small market which is why they tend to be converted by van lining companies as and when a customer requires them.

Up to this year,(I think they have changed things a bit in the last Budget) commercial vans paid a flat rate of €50 p.a. road tax, and VAT can be reclaimed on diesel. A lot of these vans are bought by tradesmen, apprentices, and junior reps, as they're cheaper to run than a Caddy/Transit Connect. Nearly every brand will offer a converted hatch, Citroen sell a C4 van, VW a Golf. Some of the newer vans have tinted rear glass, so you don't even see the metal panels.
I'm surprised they aren't more popular over here, the potential tax savings are huge.
£50k RRS P11d = £17500 thats £583pm in tax
£50k RRS Commercial P11d = £3k - a saving of £483pm!
Not to mention the write-down allowances go up from 10% to 20% (less personal usage) and they can claim the VAT back on the purchase.
So over 3 years the company will save £10/12k and the driver around £17k in tax!
I could give up my back seats for that sort of saving, especially as I might have to store the rear seats in the back of my commercial vehicle anyway!
Waiver - My calculations are probably wrong, I'm not an accountant, please speak to your own accountant before you order a commercial vehicle. Your home may be at risk if you borrow money against it to fund a RRS. People may think you have a small penis if you drive a RRS.

You forgot fuel as well, as a commercial the company can pay for all fuel and you get charged BIK of 500 quid, considering the amount of fuel these go through thats better than paying income tax and then putting then filling it up yourself.£50k RRS P11d = £17500 thats £583pm in tax

Just about every time you see a double cab 4x4 that isn't on a farm/building site then this is the reason.
