Lambo Aventador Microsite: Great For Daydreaming

Big Lambo's sold out for more than a year, but you can while away the time speccing one up

It's a fair bet that the vast majority of those with more than an ounce of petrol flowing through their veins will get all dribbly at the thought of the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. Which makes it all the more frustrating that a), the car is already sold out for well over a year and b), not that many people can afford the £202k required to get their hands on one anyway.

Still, that doesn't mean you can't dream - and Lamborghini is helping that dream with a special microsite for the Aventador. This allows you to fiddle with the exterior and interior trim and colour options, to peruse the depths of the spec sheet, and to view Lamborghini's latest teaser vidseo.

Said Lamborghini CEO Stephann Winkelmann (ever so slightly smugly, we can't help but think): "Interest in the Aventador has been unprecedented and we have orders for far more than one year. Before customer deliveries begin in the second half of 2011, customers and brand enthusiasts can visit the Aventador microsite to receive a glimpse into the wealth of personalization opportunities available with the new V12 super sports car."

So there you have it. If you can't afford the new Aventador, or the waiting list is just too long to bear, you can console yourself by having a play at www.aventador.com

Totally different car in the flesh, I hated it in pictures, then spent 20 minutes drooling over it in Geneva, far more striking than the Veyron, Koenisegg & dare I say it, the new Pagani, despite the Lambo show car being in the worst looking colour (imo)

This was the star of the Geneva Motor Show, even better looking in the metal/carbon, there just isn't a bad angle to view this car from

I would agree that it looked great on the stand in Geneva. Still need to see one outside to get the final perspective as the spotlights give an artificial effect.

I'd rather have a Mclaren MP4 12C and something classic.

Not the biggest fan of it. It looks good, but it's just the offspring of a Reventon and a Gallardo. I'd much rather they had done something completely new. Obviously it still looks good, just it's a disappointment in style (performance is crazy though).

Yes, I would have the Mclaren rather than the Aventador in the same way as I'd have a milky, tepid, bland cup of tea over an espresso or a cappuccino.

Lamborghini just seem to be getting it so right. It's a stunning looking car. And makes McLaran look old imo.

looking at the unskinned version it doesn't seem to lend itself to becoming a soft-top any time soon.

I always said that it is impossible to make a better looking car than Murci and that Lambo have shot themselves in the foot with it. Then they come out with this and prove me wrong... Better start grafting so I can maybe buy one some day.

I think we will be saying this of the Lambo when Mclaren bring out their next car... just can't see the engineering matching what Mclaren will do, the 12c is after all their entry level.
