Firstly i would like to say hello to all 
I have recently decided to purchase a van for Social use, after finding a couple of vans to go and look at i checked out some insurance companies and the prices are great.
I have built 10 years NCD on a car i have been advised that if i switch from car to van this ok, but during the same conversation i have been advised that if i intend to switch back to a car later that my NCD will no longer be accepted by various companies as it would have been on a commercial policy for a year/or more.
My next question to them was "Why is this, is there an explanation" which was met with the anwser from the advisor of "I don't know, its just an insurance rule", having had this anwser from more than 1 company i decided to look further into this matter.
I called the Association of British Insurers, the Financial Services Authority and the Motor Insurers Bureau but none of these organisations had an anwser to the question.
I am now in a predicament, and my last idea was to ask here in the hope that someone here might have the anwser.
