Shropshire/Somerset/Shropshire today and averaged 43mph

I'm glad I don't drive 55,000 miles p.a. for work anymore! Followed a Waitrose truck and police car for 20 miles towards Kidderminster. Then all went well until the other side of Bristol when I joined the A37 south. What a miserable road with such slow traffic and two lots of roadworks with a 500 yard queue and next to nothing coming the other way.
Yeovil, what a horribly busy little town.
Then after the meeting it took me 35 minutes to get to the M5 having decided I wasn't going to attempt the A37 again. Guess what, the M5 was closed north of Bristol. I sat in stationary traffic for 30 minutes before being shunted off onto the A38.
320 miles at an average speed of 43mph. Nearly 8 hours of mostly miserable driving.
I'm going to stay at home from now on and do business over the phone only!
