Finally some video of the amazing David vs Goliath moment has come to light.

You will note how easily the Smart Roadster overtakes the yellow TVR (though the OP forgot to mention the 'TVR' was towing a trailer in his thread) and how the natural balance of the Smart chassis allows him to accurately place the car in the gravel despite the low speeds and bloody wide road:

I love YouTube, you can find a crash video of any car, at any speed.

The driver of this Tuscan would probably be quite easy to keep up with on a B road in a Smart for2, let alone a Roadster
