Gallardo Replacement To Be Called Cabrera

A Gallardo, yesterday

The successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo will be called the Cabrera - a name given to the new car by Lambo CEO Stefann Winkelmann.

At least, that's what French magazine l'Automobile reckons. They also suggest that the new car, due in 2012, will also continue with a naturally aspirated V10 (albeit with 600hp this time around), but that the Cabrera will make extensive use of carbon fibre, and take its styling cues from the new Aventador.

The name itself, as with most Lamborghinis, comes from the gory and inhumane world of popular (in some markets) bull-torturing, but as far as we can work out also means 'goatherder' in Spanish. Which is perhaps a little unfortunate, too.

Hope it looks better around the back end than the Aventador too.

Well there is the Sierra cabrera mountain range but Lambos are generally named after famous fighting bulls, not mountains or towns, that's a Seat thing.

I read that as being the Gerbera rather than Cabrera.
