okey dokes.

Aunt and Uncle will be moving to their new B&B in Devon after years of working for others.

Currently have a 52 plate Merc 270 CDi and and renault Migrane Cabriolet.

They're quite happy to part with both and have decided on a 4x4.

They need something that will cope with potential 'travel chaos' (snow) in the Devon countryside (they are gonna be VERY rural) as well as something that can comfortably travel them to the land of the kilt-wearers occasionally (family), something that the dog can hop in the back, something that has a pretty good load capacity.

They like:

M class Merc, but think it's probably a bit too big for those lanes


They don't like:
Any BM 'X' car as he doesn't want to look a complete c*ck and he isn't a complete badge snob either
The Nissan Qashqai, because it is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
Landy Defender (not really keen on it for the longer journeys but realise it would be ideal down in the country)

I've suggested a used, poss 2009/2010 Hyundai Santa Fe (which I find hard to believe but it seems to fit the criteria). It's capable, reasonably cheap for what you get and one of that age would come with a good balance of warranty for peace of mind.

Now, Uncle being of Jock bloodline is somewhat tight with the ££££

So, any other suggestions?

What about a Nissan X trail in diesel, capable enough off road with the right tyres, a decent size for all + dog, you say they're off to run a business so would be useful as transport as seats fold flat and can van like inside if needed.

Also the diesel is real good on squirt for the trips to Scotland..
