Hi,
Just to let anyone who is interested or has ordered a 1M I have been sent a salesperson's brochure in the post and the following are FACTS in print from BMW,not speculation:
1.There will only be 450 coming to the UK(confirmed).
2.The car has exactly the same engine and tune as the Z4 35iS i.e:340 bhp and 450+50 nm torque.The +50 is supplied in over boost function at the top end of the rev range giving a total of 500 nm.
3.The rear track dimensions are stated as 80 mm wider than the existing 1 coupe.
4.The car will crucially have an M differential lock(from the M3)to the rear wheels,and speed sensitive power steering.
5.Manual transmission only.
As far as guesswork,I will be very surprised if anyone gets delivery before June as BMW will let the tension mount,and my local dealer doesn't expect to see their demonstrator until then I would assume these will all be made in one go,so varied delivery dates will refer to the production queue and shipping logistics.
It really should be a fantastic driving car,I have the engine in my 35iS and the 'dead blow' of power at all speeds is remarkable.Personally I can't wait.

Are you sure they'll be getting a demo? I spoke with my local dealer (Elms of Bedford) a couple of weeks ago and they stated as the 1M is in such short supply there'll be no demo cars available. I was interested but cannot bring myself to spend that sort of cash without a test drive or at least a very good look around/sit in beforehand. I was told they expect all the UK cars to be sold pretty quickly.There will be customer cars available for delivery on launch day the 14th May. Although there might not be dealer demo's available there will certainly be BMW HQ cars available for test drive. Just speak to your local dealer who should be able to organise. Failing that PM me and im sure i could get a test drive organised.

I didn't read that as meaning that 500NM was generated right at the top of the rev range. Just that the +50NM applied to the top "bit" of the rev range and that the peak torque was 500NM. Not Ideal said:
