Any money in scrapped cars?

I have a Mk6 Escort I use as my station car during the week. Failed MOT recently and has now has no tax - I have neither the time nor inclination to repair it so it has got to go.

Will I get anything in scrap value or will I have to pay to have it removed do you think?

I'd have thought you would get at least £100, especially if you take it to them.

About a year ago I got £150 from someone who was going to take an old car of mine to scrap.

He travelled 40 mile round trip with trailer, collected my car, was going to take a couple of bits off it and then weigh it in as scarp. It must have been worth his while to do the travelling (fuel, time) and pay me £150.
So I suspect he would have got at least £200 for it. Old Subaru Legacy estate.

I was given £150 cash for a Rover Metro recently - they collected, and had no issue with the almost complete lack of interior. Can't remember the name of the company off-hand though.

Local scrap metal dealer near us is doing a free draw for £1000/monthly to anyone scrapping a car plus paying out on cars as they collect them.
Can't get enough of them apparently.
