I've used it once on a tyre with a nail in it. It just... worked.
Enabled me to drive a couple of miles to a tyre place, where the fitter wasn't overly pleased at having to clear all the gunk out before fitting the new tyre!
Obviously useless if you have a blow out, but better than nothing.

Never tried it on a high speed wheel (read motorway or normal car) but was green laning in my defender 4 years ago and got a flat, used a large can of that tyre weld stuff you put trough the valve, it inflated it, sealed the hole and 4yrs on is still going strong, it gets alot of abuse but never used it on high speed or on anything that is finely balanced.
Do have a can in the Caterham for emergencies as i have no spare tyre, but not had to use it yet.

The problem with modern cars (with alloy wheels) is that the alloy can be chemically bonded to the hub, and can require a good lump hammer to set it free. I had a nail through my tyre last year and after unscrewing the nuts, couldn't get the wheels off.
I'm 6'1, a bit podgy but fairly well muscled. Unfortunately I'm not bald and don't have a goatee, so those reserves of strength were lost to me.
Now, this is fine if you're at the side of a little lane like I was. But it wouldn't be much fun trying to sort that out at the side of the M25.
I have a full size spare. However, I now carry a can of tyre weld in case the same happens again and I'm not in a safe place to be grappling with wheels and alloys have bonded to the hubs. A new tyre (or a pair) aren't worth being a smear on the side of an M-Way for.

All of which are spot on... but not something that always works (apart from the copper grease, but even that can wear off). For clarity- I keep tyre weld as a back up but would prefer to change the wheel. By a busy motorway I might be more prudent (or "chicken out", depending on your point of view)
and just use the tyre weld.Although the can or manufacturer would never say this - it is actually a pretty good long term solution to a puncture.
I get punctures all the time on my motorcycle (usually nails) and use tyre weld regularly. In fact my back wheel has been fixed using it, and that was over three months/3000 miles ago.
No more leaks.
As long as the tyre isn't split you're fine.
It easily washes out with water come tyre change time too.

i used it halfway up a mountain in Wales, drove 3 more days off road, drove back to Essex over night, and forgot about it, till this thread.Do have a can in the Caterham for emergencies as i have no spare tyre, but not had to use it yet.

still that was last august and i will need new ats before this august

I reckon i have probably travelled about 15000 miles on wheels that have tyre weld in them. Provided you follow the instructions exactly you shouldn't even notice. I have driven on a works van where the van wasn't driven while the weld sealed and it was terrible, but that is the only time i've ever noticed.

Speed isn't an issue for round nail type punctures...in fact the faster you go the better the product will work. But be careful with splits in tyres - unthough unlikely, the split could possibly open up further resulting in a blowout.
Tyre weld got me home following this large split casued by a stone wedged in the tyre though...

RX8s come with this stuff instead of a spare.
First time I had a puncture it was a thumb sized hole in the sidewall in freezing conditions, so the Tyre Weld didn't even pretend to be any use.
Second time, I had a fast-ish slow and tried it. It was a warm June evening, but it was useless.
I now carry a spacesaver wheel around - I won't be caught out again...
In my experience, utterly worthless....

Maybe, but only on my friends airfield.
I may know of someone who got a puncture in a tyre with less than 50miles on it and when he finished swearing he decided to weld the tyre. The tyre has been kept on with weld in, on a rear wheel that get regularly hooned and may have seen prolonged 90+speeds on b-roads with no issues.
