Convertibles Vs Coupes

Had this a few years ago, But i sold it.

ETA: Twas a seperate chassis that was boxed from the factory so as stiff as the hardtop.

Depends on whether the car was designed as a convertible or is a coupe with the roof cut off, IMO. I've never driven a chopped coupe that feels right to drive, but some of the best drivers' cars ever have been designed from the ground up as convertibles.

Stunning! It would probably take some pretty vicious driving to noticeably discern the difference between that and the coupe. For me, the positives outweigh the negatives.

I must have had half a dozen convertibles over the years but I bought them despite being convertibles not because they were convertibles.

I can't think of a single car I'd have in convertible form if a coupe variant was available.

I generally think that coupes are better looking cars aswell as being better to drive but none the less I still can't wait to drive home in mine today.

Perhaps this is also the time to say that unlike most cars the Spitfire came before the coupe version (GT6) and is therefore the lighter of the two. Still slower and not as nice looking though! Sob!

The only convertible i'd have over the coupe would probably be an Alfa Spider over the Brera TBH.

Otherwise coupe all the way - i have two! But then i'm pale and quite ugly so no-one wants to see my face, so cabrio-a-no-no

Thanks and yes since I never drive it really hard, I can't tell much difference. Since it is only used on sunny days a convertible makes more sense for me.

We have 4 coupes and a convertible.


In my Coupe the windows are so bloody big that with both down it's like being in a convertible.... just with out the sunburn.

the CLK 430 is awesome for early evening wafting..... I hate being sat still in the baking sun in a convertible.
