Hi just wondering if any 1 has ever fitted a vxr engine into a astra sxi just my friend has already had the engine fitted and the person who fitted the engine said he knew how to install the wiring harness but he has now said that it's impossible and that it would cost at least 12 hundred pound to have 1 made has any one have any suggestion's as he is at a dead end.The astra has already had all of the possible uprated parts fitted which is all 2.0 litre parts brakes ,caliper's etc'etc please if any one can help please you'r advice would be appreciated as he has been left with his half unfinished project.

Just a quick comment to ensure you don't get mauled like a lame sheep by a pack of wolves when the dayshift crowd come in.

Remove the caps. Check the spelling.

It's a decent enough question, one I don't know the answer to. But people on here will go mental about the typing and not actually help you in any way.

That's better. I was just kidding, do as said above (no caps and spelling) and you are more likely to get a serious answer and not a grilling from the grammar police.

Follow Colonial's advice OP he's speaking the truth. Resonable question, but you will not get it answered with it written in capitals, the ph grammar police will be all over this thread in as soon as the sun raises.
Guys on here will be able to sort you out though- no doubt, just edit your post!

It's all good, just a good job you posted when you did.
Yea there is definately some guys that know there loom's inside out on here, as far as i've picked up from being on here. That is may be possible to build a 'custom' loom that simply uses two different looms from the same manufacturer, wired together. (For example a half-roughly speaking- a astra loom and half a corsa one).

It'll probably cost more to put the Corsa VXR block into an Astra SXi than is worth for the performance increase. If you can not fit the Astra VXR block (which is more of a straight swap, far cheaper and easier), then may i suggest a 1.6T from the latest range of Astra Engines. Nigh on 200bhp still, quicker and easier to perform.

The Corsa engine imo, won't be of benefit in the long run, much better off fitting a Z20LEH

When people do engine swaps, they usually check first that the donor engine shares the same, or very similar electrical gubbins as the original - making the new engine a sort of 'plug and play' affair.
They may actually use the original sensors and injectors etc and hammer them on the donor engine.

So I guess the question is - did your mate do his homework on this one or has anyone on the interwebs done a similar swap?

The loom on a corsa vxr engine will not fit the 1.6 or 1.8 sxi loom. If I am right there is slot of work connecting the looms together or you have to get a standalone and start again. Like said above it would of been easier and probably cheaper to fit the astra vxr 2.0 lump as it's basically a straight swap.

I would of personally chopped the sxi in and brought myself a vxr. As it's easier and Ime lazy.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like the guy doing the swap has reached the limit of his knowledge. Get on to one of the enthusiast forums as there is always someone who has done it before you and they are normally more than happy to help/bore you to death.

Back in the good old days anyone with a hoist and a set of spanners could do an engine swap, now it's a bit more complicated.

Corsa VXR has CANBUS wiring. It's NOT like taking a Redtop out of a Cavalier and sticking it in a Corsa B.

It is possible, but it's pointless, the Corsa VXR engine is a bit pants, uses a different gearbox, etc, etc. You'd be better off just getting a damaged Astra with a 2.0T and swapping the engines.

my mate first owned the astra sxi he went out and bought a brand new corsa vxr he then garaged his sxi for the future for his wife he had the vxr and just as it hit 30k he had it remapped and dee catted upgraded with 20 ltr bits all brakes gearbox ,had high performance clutch fitted ,and new high performance piston's fitted by vauxhall at 31k so it was now pushing out 250+bhp ,Then a couple of weeks later after all the work was complete he was driving along and some one pulled out from a junction it was a high speed side impact crash which creased the roof and because of that the car was wrote off because of the damaged shell the engine was untouched. He then bought the car back crashed damaged he stripped the car for engine wiring loom interior wheel's exhaust etc etc he kept the engine and sold the rest on as spare's or repair's then the shell was weighed in as scrap. He was left with a high spec vxr engine and astra sxi he asked about and was told that the conversion could be possible, but was told by the mechanic who was fitting the engine that it was possible and that he could do the job he started the work he sold his sxi engine to pay the mechanic for the fitting of the engine. The mechanic got so far into the fitting and then said he was unable to complete the job he said he was unable to do the electric's after he already said he could .So then my mate was left with a sxi shell and loom his car was left in bits and the wiring loom was in a pile inside the car looking like a pile of spaggetti and his vxr engine had been lowered into the engine bay and it hadn't been secured due to different mounting's
