Do people think it might be prudent to post all stories of bad driving and rants in one communal plate?

Spent some time reading through the forums due to boredom this morning, and they're everywhere!

To be fair, I quite enjoy reading through the stories, as I do with the bad parking every now and again, but I hate clicking on threads all over the show to be confronted with "he used the WRONG lane" etc etc.

Overtook a woman in a toureg on the way home yesterday, she was a mlm and a flw (foglight wker)

After I pulled back into Lane 1 behind some upcoming Hgvs in the distance she moved into lane 3

Coming out of Warrington yesterday on the A49 South the middle age woman behind me in her old IS200 came screaming up behind me at the end of a queue of traffic. She was driving so close I could tell the make of phone she had glued to here ear.
A few miles on she hung up then promply dialed another number and reglued it
Soon after a X5 traffic car comes the other way. She quick dumps it in her lap and looks innocent, immedialte regluing it once they paseed.
Stupid Moo - she'd be the first to get irrate if some did that to here or drove in to her whilst on the phone!

I see cracking examples of bad driving every single day.
Maybe it's about time we did regular tests or ongoing checks?
BTW is there any way to easily report dangerous drivers?

Coming out of Warrington on the A49 north this morning I witnessed a HGV in heavy traffic turning right from the left hand lane. Luckily the cars in the right hand lane were all turning right also, but they could well have been going straight on. In which case the HGV would have gone straight through them.

Warrington - never known a worse place for driving. The amount of time people try to change lanes in to the side of you is beyond belief.

This is more of a complaint against complaining really - not very PH I know.

If there are 30 million licence holders in the UK, will anything you do make them behave better? The only person's driving you can realistically improve is your own.

So - forgive them, for they know not what they do. Leave enforcement to the Police and devote your attention to anticipating and avoiding their errors. If you can manage this, driving becomes a lot less stressful.

I once watched an old man plant a Rover 200 on it's roof at all of about 10mph.

Driving painfully slow, went to turn right into a side road, (somehow) didn't spot the bollard and sign post on a traffic island in the middle of the road ahead of the junction. He went straight through the bollard and the sign post bent over and acted like a ramp.

All of which resulted in a geezer hanging by his seat belt in, aside from a dented roof and a scuffed front bumper, a completely unscathed Rover, in the middle of a dead straight road in a 30 limit.

I wouldn't have believed it possible if I hadn't seen it happen.

I'm sure your attitude would change if one of them caused you some grief.
Beside why should we just go with the flow when they are the ones at fault and endangering others?

I wrote my Mum's car off doing something similar - a CD had fallen off the dashboard, and I bent down to pick it up while still crawling round the corner. I used a tree and a small concrete bollard as my ramp though.

There's sod all you can do the change their behaviour or clue them in, unless you happen to be able to stop them and talk to them directly to discuss your concerns and even if you could somehow do that you'd likely just be told to fk off (or get a punch in the face).

I used to try 'making a point' but have realised that it's completely futile. These morons don't understand the most basic principles of driving so seeing some stranger in another car get annoyed isn't going to have any effect on them. Just concentrate on avoiding getting hurt as a result of their idiocy.

I once went right at a roundabout and my indicator stalk decided to reset itself mid way round. Scared a few people that didn't expect me to be staying on the roundabout and got a few choice words from a big guy who decided to chase me and pull me over.

I nominate the ASDA lorry driver today that went past my wife micra's so fast it blew it off course. Wouldn't have been so bad but it was on a local dual carraigeway with a 30 limit, she was in the right lane as was approaching a right turn but still doing 30 or just less. The lorry went past us at a fair pace so must have been 50 plus. To top if off a traffic queue was just up ahead at the lights so he had to slam on the anchors just afterwards. What a retard.

4 times this weekend the same thing has happened to me - travelling down an NSL @ 60mph when a car waiting in a side road ahead looks my way, sees I'm the only thing coming towards him (nothing behind me), waits until the last moment and then decides to pull out causing me to brake or overtake (where possible). One even flashed his lights & shook his head when I overtook him! What the fk are these people looking for when they're waiting at the junction? Obviously not vehicles! wkers! Rant over.

Something very similar happened to me during the last mile (literally) of a day spent driving from Amsterdam to London via Brugges - thanks for saving me the time of writing it up

So infuriating when this happens. They look at you, think about if for a while and then pull out at the last moment. I ended having to swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid an accident with my brakes jammed on... idiot

Asda lorries always have the maximum permitted speeds for HGVs for "safe driving" on the back to lecture all those following them as well.

Yeah, what is it about this particular class of road-going retard?

Many times they could have actually pulled out in good time if they had made the decision when they first pulled up at the junction or when you first came into their field of view. Yet you can see them 'teeter' on the lip of the junction as they have some sort of mental 'should I/shouldn't I?' struggle before deciding to actually pull out, forcing you to hit the anchors as you are now too close to them for them to do it safely. (Nine times out of Ten they then proceed to dawdle down the road at speeds well below the limit, holding you up.)

If they think that it's a marginal situation when they first see you, how come they feel able to pull out 4-5 seconds later?

In no particular order: Tailgating, dawdling, e.g, 20 in a 30 or 40 in a 60 , using a mobile, 'optional' indicators, weaving on motorways, middle lane hoggers, merging from a M-way slip road and lurching across three lanes of traffic without indicating, or conversely, last minute, death-or glory, multiple lane changes for your exit, not being able to safely join the offside lane due to a never ending chain of tailgating TDI luxobarges/blingy SUV's travelling at the speed of light (great fun on the M11 )
