Covering microwave alarm to stop it?????

Fooking hate my car alarm-I will be having it removed as soon as poss, but in the mean time, is there anything I can do?

The stupid thing has a "microwave" box near the rear seats, so that if someone gets close to the car it makes and warning sound and them the alarm will go off.
This means that I cant leave it in a car park as anyone walking past sets its off.

Now, this microwave box is attached to the top of the transmission tunnel between the rear seat footwells...can I put something over it to reduce its effectivness? Was thinking some tape or a cover of some sort?

I am going to see some friends tomorrow and will be parking on the street overnight-I dont want the damn thing going off.

Don't they usually have little twiddly things on them to tweak the sensitivity? Find that and set it to 'consider going off if a rhino hits the car'.

If you know where it is and can easily get to it unplug it, if the wires are hard wired in then snip the wires individually or find the adjustment screw and turn it right down.

Yes it does have those-but the idiot who owned it before seems to have stripped the thread so cant use anything to turn them!

The box is just on the top of the carpet-so I can get to it.

I REALLY want to snip the wires, but worry that it will do something crazy like not let me start the car, or go off permanently.

Its a Hornet, but I think similar to Clifford.

Bloody thing is a pain in the arse-locks itself when you shut the door, and does this perimeter thing. Thats the worst-you cant even clean the damn thing unless you leave a door open (leaving a door open a bit stops the alarm setting, but hardly very practicle when power washing!!)as its keeps going off.

Press the arm button release it then press it again within 5 seconds that should disarm the microwave sensor, if it does not then press it a again within 5 seconds, if you do this upto 5 times everything other that the ignition should be shut down, without knowing exactly how your alarm is configured it is a bit difficult to give you a definative solution.

Cool, thanks for that, I will try it later.

I have looked on line and it says there is a valet mode, where you turn the ign on and withing 5 seconds press the valet button (its near the window buttons) but that doesnt work!!!!

Had a root around the box, unscrewed its mounting points and lo and behold, there is a plug! I unplugged it and all is well!
