Recommendations to cover garage floor?

About 8 years ago I painted my garage floor with some green gloss factory floor paint a neighbour gave to me. It didn't last that well, and has entirely disappeared in the tracks where the car goes, and flaked off in many other areas too. The floor itself is quite pitted, so I'm thinking what to do. Is there a more robust floor paint available? B&Q don't even have a cheap one. Or should I get some other cooler looking floor covering? I saw some interlocking rubber tiles after a quick google, but no price.

Any recommendations? The garage's size is marginally bigger than a Mitsubishi Galant and its main purpose is for the car, not junk. Nothing else is done in there apart from cutting the odd bit of wood, and the only thing that rests on the floor is the car itself.

I bought some cheap 'office type' carpet at around £3.50 a metre and stuck it down. Been down for 2 years now and still in place. Damn sight warmer too!

I used an epoxy resin coating from Watco, I had problems with paints lifting too but the guys at this company explained that car tyres will lift an ordinary paint. http://www.watco.co.uk/watco-epoxy-gloss-coat.html... Been down a few years and have had no problems.

This is probably no help at all, but I saw some floor covering that was a bit like a clear gel - was great when you dropped a spanner as it didn't bounce or make a racket or your hand slipped off a spanner and you accidently punched the floor...

It looked really hard-wearing too.

Do a search, this was well discussed a while ago and quite a few recc a resin paint from an Ebay seller.

My mate disregarded this and bought the horrifically expensive Watco stuff - started coming up within weeks and he steam cleaned the floor first etc.

I used some proper garage floor paint from screwfix on my last 2 garages. Both times it has lasted well. I used the bright red one the first time and I wish I had the second time as it makes it very easy to sport things you've dropped. If you're just putting a car in there I'd stick with the grey or black one though.
