My workshop is in Lancashire where I work on old Citroen & other French cars plus the odd classic car/van/classic bike, too.
The unit opposite from mine is also a garage. A good one.
They are overflowing with broken cars and need the space.

So I want to buy his 1971 Mini 998cc.

Good: four nearly new Minilite alloys with 10" Yokohama tyres, front disc brakes, servo brake conversion, fancy suspension in nearly new condition, an expensive 'sports' exhaust system with LCB manifold, a brand new SU carb, although only 998cc it is the later A+ Series engine, various other goodies including a brand new alternator, a remarkably sound floor/subframes, decent interior etc.
I can do all of the mechanical/welding work.
No MOT or road tax required.

Bad: the bodyshell has been de-seamed, the doors & front wings are full of filler, the respray is only 'just about average', if I strip the old paintwork it will possibly reveal a horror story, possible head gasket failure, decent bodyshells go for as much as a mediocre complete car.

I want to develop a motorcycle cylinder head conversion for the 998cc A-Series. I've done some research and want to use a ten-a-penny Japanese head, rather than buying a 1275 and BMW head. If I buy the car, I will post details of the build.

Finally, what's a ballpark price for a 1971 998cc Mini that will probably require extensive body repairs or a new shell. And why, in the 21st century, would anyone de-seam a Classic Mini?
If you need more strength, there are other ways to do this...
Thanks for your attention.
