Wheel damage at dealer

Had my car in for mot today at main dealer. Came out to drive away and noticed they’d kerbed my wheel. They’ve agreed to refurb the wheel but on closer inspection I’ve noticed this on the tyre. It’s not ripped through to cords as far as I can tell so would you just accept it or would you recommend pushing to replace the tyre too?
The tyre is a runflat with 5mm on it.

First pic couldn't see any tyre damage. Second pic looks like they've glued the tyre back together. If that's the case it would be a new tyre for me

Yes, I'd def poke further to see the extent of the damage and if they have glued it back. Pretty outrageous if they have. New tyre

Bloody hell, if they’ve glued a chunk back onto the tyre I’d be mighty peeved.

Ironically, right in the middle of the safety warning print . If you took it in like that they’d be insisting on you buying a new tyre off them !

OMG. If they've glued a chunk back on, which is what it looks like, that's outrageous. And probably dangerous.

I'd want the tyre on the other side replaced as well as, for safety, tyre manufacturers and fitters recommend changing axle pairs.

When a Porsche OPC scraped my 911s alloy, I got a spanking new alloy out of them…no way was I accepting a refurb.

Before you start pulling at the damage on the tyre, go back to the dealer and investigate if it’s been glued in the presence of a staff member.

Yep, same for me at Mercedes. Curbed wheel replaced with a new one.

Might as well go for all four, maybe new shocks too, and springs..

New wheel and tyre should be the case. Whether it is will depend on the person you deal with. I always take pictures of my cars including each wheel and tyre when leaving them at a dealers. This lesson was learnt after damage to more than one car at different dealers. Many simply don’t care and their customers also often don’t care if a car is parked where other customers park.

I’m going to speak to them tomorrow as the manager wasn’t in yesterday and push for a new tyre as I’m sure they’d recommend a new one if they inspected it and weren’t the cause of it.
If I find it has been glued then that’s a very sneaky thing to do and shows they defo knew about it.
Was thinking of negotiating replacing other tyre too so both match as it’s got 5mm. I doubt they’d agree but I really don’t think if I say I’ll pay cost price on it I’m being unreasonable.

Good luck but I reckon asking for 2 tyres is pushing it. Please keep us updated.

It’s a good point- ifthe intention is to conceal it makes no logical sense. It looks like a flake of alloy lacquer which even a cursory wipe with the hand would remove. Still there’s nowt as queer as folk.

Spoke to them today. No arguing just said no problem we will replace the damaged tyre. Asked about other one and they’ve given a bit of discount on replacing the other tyre to match them up

I'd never accept a refurb on the basis that the wheel wasn't a refurb when you drove in. I'd insist on a new wheel.
