Thruxton Sunday Service | 07/12

Join us for our final event of the year, including skid pan action!

December might be packed with festive cheer, but before the tinsel and turkey take over, there’s one date you should have marked in your calendar: the PistonHeads Sunday Service at Thruxton! We’re wrapping up 2025 in style on Sunday, December 7th, returning to Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire alongside our brilliant friends at Mission Motorsport. This venue has become a true highlight of the Sunday Service calendar - and if you’ve been before, you’ll know exactly why.

The team at Thruxton will once again be opening their doors, welcoming visitors with hot drinks and hearty breakfast baps to start the day right. Meanwhile, Mission Motorsport will be running their ever-popular skid pan sessions throughout the morning, offering plenty of thrills and sideways action. If you’d like to put your car control skills to the test in your own vehicle while supporting an incredible cause, you can sign up for a skidpan session by clicking here. Each 30-minute session (six cars per group) costs £45 plus a booking fee. All proceeds raised go directly toward helping Mission Motorsport continue their vital work with the Armed Forces community.

For those seeking something a little more relaxed, the Walk the Circuit session at 11:00 am offers a rare chance to explore one of the fastest race circuits in the UK at your own pace. With space for 600 cars, this is always one of the most popular Sunday Services of the year - so don’t hang about. Tickets are free (per car), but you’ll need to register in advance via the Thruxton website to secure your spot.

We can’t wait to see everyone gather for one last Sunday morning of cars, coffee and good company before the year ends. See you at Thruxton for the final Sunday Service of 2025!

When: Sunday 7 December 2025, 09:00 - 12:00
Where: Thruxton Motorsport Centre, Thruxton Circuit, Andover, Hampshire, SP11 8PN
Tickets: Free - book your place here
Capacity: 600 cars
Skidpan: Book here

Oh I don't know, I think the year it was completely frozen over was my favourite biggrin Just bring lots of layers, and a change of trousers in case you fall over...

Signed up, my first Sunday Service as I always seem to miss the more local ones being posted… smile

Not sure which car yet, either the trusty Golf GTI or the new family addition Alpine A290.

I'd have to disagree as my booking for sliding around got cancelled. frown

Fingers crossed that won't happen this year!

At the 2023 event a couple of us booked a GP session at the Karting centre next door to immediately follow the Sunday Service, and we're doing the same again this year.

Details here https://thruxtonkarting.co.uk/adult-karting#tab-gr...

Session starts at 12.30 (they say get there for 12) so fits nicely around the PH event. £90something so decent value (relatively speaking) for quite a lot of karting.

It's a great karting setup; I've done it twice, December 2023 when it was absolutely lashing down, and this summer in beautiful sunshine, both amazing fun. If you do a skidpan session before, it'll be nice practice for the sort of driving you'll do in the karts if it's raining!

It generally sells out, so if you're interested, suggest you get in there quick.

When it says track walk is that a literal meaning or a metaphor, do we get to drive around the track or is that walk around the track on foot?

The skid pan is now sold out - thank you to everyone getting involved and supporting such a great cause. We're down to the final few spaces for the event so now's the time to secure your ticket if you haven't already!

It says places for 600 cars…?

But it’s sold out on the Thruxton website…

IIRC Silverstone did not look like the 300? Ish cars registered for the day were there in the metal…

I went to the ‘Icy one’ in ‘23, it was pretty sparse that day too…

@BenLowden can they really be booked for ‘600’ cars to attend?

Yep they allocate 600 tickets to it but unfortunately as a free event, there'll always be people that don't turn up, especially if the weather conditions aren't the best. Thruxton is very popular and we do come close to running out of space every year.

I too went to the 'icy' one and within two steps of getting out of the car I was on my arse! That day it looked like may 100-150 turned up? Certainly plenty of space on the runway for many more cars. skidpan was 'interesting' when it was covered in snow and ice as well as the slippery stuff they put on it!

I was gonna say, I will have a friendly fiver with you that nothing like the 600 will actually turn up…

Odd one in terms of booking method, hey ho…

It was a great laugh the ‘icy’ one…!! You are right - I think everyone went on their ass just getting in and out of the car…

:-))

Mind you - it wasn’t quite so fun going back into Cheltenham - I swear I thought my M4 Comp was going to be totalled by the literally out of control vehicles coming back into Leckhampton - we particularly remembered on guy in an EV - his wife was literally screaming out of the passenger window - it was basically a ‘sledge’ completely out of control…

It was amazing the M4 managed the descent, it was X drive - but even so - those hill descents were like polished glass covered in washing up liquid…!

It's all down to the tyres. I remember a particularly icy winter on Dartmoor around burrator, I had no trouble driving down to the reservoir in my then E46 330d as it had winter tyres on but all sorts of 4x4's were abandoned at the side of the road as they couldn't get down or up. There's a lot to be said for winter tyres when it does get proper cold!

Quick one re: Skin pan.

I have booked onto the 11am session, as that was all we could get. I am coming down with a mate in my MX5. Would it possible to swap driver's half way through so myself and my mate can both 'have a go' whilst we are there?

A very good question but not one we can answer I'm afraid - if you go onto the Eventbrite event, there'll be a 'Contact' button to get in touch with Mission Motorsport to clarify with them.

Very true - tyres make a huge (all?!) the difference.

I’ve put winter tyres on my GRY this year - can’t wait for some snow and ice action 😎.

In the nordics currently - all running snow tyres here - EV’s scuttling about - no bother…!
