A friend reports that a C-TEK charger he's using to maintain one of our cars is only showing light four and no others when plugged in to the 12v battery connector.

I've not known a C-TEK do that. Google seems to revert to a 'first four lights' answer, rather than solely light four.

What does this mean?

Thank you.

The various phases are explained here: https://www.ctek.com/ctek-magazine/the-mxs-5-0-8-s...

I think it can stay on phase 4 for some considerable time... Might be worth leaving a few days

Yes, I've just read the link.

'Our' C-TEK has ONLY light 4 alight.

If your friend has another C-TEK, I'd ask him to try that on your car as it could be the C-TEK that's the problem.

Ah... Didn't read your initial fully!

That does sound odd - I'm certain the phase LEDs light up sequentially.

One of my CTEKs does have some really dim LEDs which are really difficult to see in daylight - are you sure they are not on?

Suspect there is an issue with the charger - I'd use the https://www.ctek.com/contact-us page to ask the question.

Have you tried turning it off and on again wink

It should then start with 1 then 2 then 3 then all 4 lights.

Maybe it is a charger issue. I've used CTEKs for many years. I've not experienced this issue up until today.

Based on something like an mxs5.0:

Only showing a single light of the 8 "mode" lights, is not operating normally unless it's the phase 1 (desuphation) part of the charge. For every phase after that, the previous phases are lit.

As you're saying it's light 4 only (which is the "absorption" phase), I'd say it's likely broken. It might just be the LEDs but it's suspect in any case.

CTEK make the best chargers I've used, I have several and have never had one fail.
