Do you need a service plan on a 2 year lease. I would imagine one service at 13 months would suffice (check your lease contract for exact requirements). Thats what I do, been leasing for 12 years.

Also a main dealer service will be sufficient, they will register the service online and turn off the infotainment service lights. Keep your receipts for peace of mind and proof. Again I have used independents depending on what the lease company contract stipulates.

Who is the lease from?

It doesn t really matter what someone says, it’s what is in your contract that matters. Have you read the service section? Usually it says it must follow manufacturer requirements. However check that.

As I said earlier, I (and many other seasoned leasers on PH) get a 12 months service done at 13 months and them send the car back at 24 months without the second service as it isn t required. However please check your contract for any specific requirements.

However that all said, £15 / month (£360 all in) isn’t unreasonable if that covers all your servicing requirements.

If your service plan is through the lease plan.
The dealer will use the 1 link system or similar to register the service with the lease company. Its a system most leasing companies use for service/repair payments and invoicing

They input the current mileage, all the parts with prices attached and labour time.

The leasing company will then usually automaticaly authorise the service.
Somtimes they are manually reviewed but are always accepted.
Most garages will carry out the service whilst waiting for the authorisation.

You then get a copy invoice for your records to show its paid by the lease company when you pick it up.

As pointed out above - with services you can usually go up to 30 days past the due date. This takes you out to 13 months after year 1. This means that when you hand the car back at 24 months your service isn’t due til month 25.

Done this loads.

Many thanks for all the replies.
After a few phone calls I found out that according to my contract I have to have a interim service at 8000k or 12 months then a major service at 16000k or 24 months which includes brake fluid change , pollen filter etc .
Contract says approved dealer so I went with the National Citroen care plan at £15 a month as it’s my first lease I thought this makes sense plus peace of mind its sorted for when the time comes .

Out of interest, on an EV, what's the difference between an interim service and a "major" one?

Think one is more of an inspection and the other will include things like fluids, e.g. brake, battery coolant? That's how my little VW e-Up service schedule looked from memory?

The contract always says this, but as everyone above has suggested you delay the first service by up to 30 days to 13 months whilst still remaining within the acceptable timeframe for it, which then pushes the second service beyond the 24 months and you hand the car back before the second service is due.

I've done this in the past, with no questions asked as quite simply the second service isn't due at that point.

Otherwise you're just paying to get the car serviced to hand it back immediately after.

While i agree delaying the first service by 30 days could work but for me i would hit the 8000k mark before the 11 months mark so i would have to get the first service done within the 12 months which would kick in the 2nd service at 16000k...

Just thinking about this, and Citroen have managed to take a car with very little servicing requirements and increased the servicing frequency over a traditional ICE car.

Every 8k for servicing an EV seems like an easy way to extract money from their owners.

OK, so given an inspection service (with oil/filter change)is typically (for run of mill brands at least) is around £200, then EV should be around £100 and £200 or so far major with brake fluid/coolant etc.?

The schedule is £360 so a little more but not outrageous, although a lot more than it prob “should” be. Inspection half hour labour and major that plus time for brake fluid, so 1hr?
