Special edition Revuelto pays homage to Miura
It's the 60th anniversary of the original supercar - Lamborghini supplies 99 reasons to be happy
No sooner do we mention the North American jamboree that is Monterey Car Week, than another constituent is announced. Behold the Revuelto Miura 60° Homage, a 99-example special edition that Lamborghini will show in California next week. Don’t be surprised if the manufacturer has something more dramatic to reveal - boss Stephan Winkelmann has previously described the event as among the most important dates in the Lamborghini calendar - but for now we get a car that is mostly a product of its bespoke Ad Personam programme.
Consequently, we’re talking predominantly here about light-touch cosmetic alterations. Well, entirely actually. But when the subject of your homage is the 60th birthday of arguably the world’s first mid-engined supercar - and easily ranks as one of the best looking ever made - who are we to argue with Lamborghini’s source of inspiration? The Miura looks spectacular in virtually any colour, though nine from back in the day have been made available for new buyers: Rosso Arancio, Arancio, Giallo, Verde Scandal, Verde Metallic, Blu Tahiti, Blu Notte, Nero Noctis and Bianco Monocerus.
To further gild the lily, there is also the choice of two liveries, which owe their appearance to the contrasting colour you often find on lower body sections of the Miura. Thus you can have Oro Elios livery paired with Altanero Shiny Gold wheels, or the Grigio Nimbus livery combined with Altanero Matt Titanium Diamond wheels. Decisions, decisions. To polish things off, you get a dedicated Miura 60 logo, on the sill adjacent to the rear arch, and a gloss black Lambo badge to go with your matte black tailpipes.
"With the Revuelto Miura 60° Homage, we wanted to create a special series capable of celebrating a milestone in our history through an exclusive interpretation of our V12 HPEV super sports car," noted Winkelmann. "For our collectors and customers, exclusivity means authenticity, rarity and lasting emotional value: the Revuelto Miura 60° Homage has been created precisely with this philosophy." No word on how much this all costs, of course - though, if you have to ask…
Yes, I'd well imagine that getting hold of a Muira in each colour would have been terribly difficult and a logistical nightmare, but these images just look awful. Presumably they use the same ad agency as Maserati for the AI advert they pushed out.
I was always more a Countach person maybe it’s my age.
Also recent piece on evo driving an original Ford gt and making a case for that being the original supercar, what with it being launched 2 years earlier …. If they had just got a few of road versions on to the road instead of worrying about those pesky I-talians and that darned race in France
